Color is a wonderful thing. From warm melon to chilly slate, colors can tell their own stories. Here's the thing. You can't always wear colors not only because it's not always appropriate, but because sometimes your energy says "I'm not feeling colorful today". So, I guess we'll have to remedy that now won't we?
When your energy is feeling stormy or mild it's good to wear greys and whites. Even black can be an option. Some women have a hard time wearing these basic colors for fear she'll seem boring. But I'm here to help you find a way to create your own niche of basic colors. Really I believe that every woman needs at least a couple of basic colored pieces. For example M&Ms, you should have at least one pair of black jeans, a pair of white jeans, 3-5 t-shirts shirts in a variety of simple colors, not including a cami in all neutral and basic colors. The advantage of this idea is that each piece will become useful more than once in it's lifetime. That way you don't waste money and you will always have these things when they are needed. Now we just need to figure out how to make these colors fun. Patterns are key when it comes to basics. Stripes are my favorite choice but that doesn't mean it's your only option! Polka dots, tribal print, and chevron are just a few ideas to get you on the right path. Stripes are slimming and seem to put off a reliable vibe. You can wear stripes to be casual or dressed up. With basic colors patterns are good because they give the eye a reason to be attracted. Try your favorite pattern and see what you like. You could maybe even try mixing patterns if you're feeling extra brave!
Another way to spice up basic colors is to wear fun accessories, and do something fun with your hair! I love to wear blingy earrings. It adds to the look in a special way that I just can't get enough of! Sunnies are not always thought of when accessorizing but they can be a perfect way to shade your eyes and look awesome all at the same time. Nice wrist candy can be another easy way to accessorize. I love watches, so they always are my first choice, but really any bracelets would add some jazz to your basic colors. Try a new hairstyle! Maybe add some color to your hair! Also try a fun purse. Purses or bags can be super helpful to your cause. They could provide you with a pop of color, or you could try a purse in the same color scheme and even a different pattern. There are so many ways a purse can add to your outfit.
So, whether it's jeans, shorts, slacks, skirts or whatever...now you know how to keep it simple but adorable. Patterns, accessories and purses are the ways to take a boring outfit and make it spicy!
