I think we all can agree that there's a little "hippie" inside of everyone. Some have chosen it as a lifestyle, or a permanent fashion style, while others like to feel earthy occasionally, but can't quite part with those designer heels. Regardless if your "hippie" is dominant, or likes to hide in the shadows and come out only sometimes, I'm hoping that this post can give you some inspiration.
Maxi dresses might be the most comfortable dresses ever made. With that in mind, maxis are perfect to get the hippie vibe started. Bright colors are a definite must. Orange is a nice choice because pst, guess what? It makes you look tanner! Along with complementing your complexion, orange is all about "enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation" as google put it. These things all reflect that hippie vibe very well. I chose my trusty shall from Francesca's to give the look an ornate and elaborate feel. It almost seems like it was hand made with it's lace and tassels. This is a good way to depict the hippie feel also. Wear things that are boho, and flowy. Works every time! Shoes are very optional. What hippie wears shoes right? But of course, in the time we live in, shoes are almost always mandatory. So, sandals it is right? Only this time, pick the strappiest sandals you can find. Again, the hippie look involves things that look elaborate (but secretly are definitely not). Jewelry is a must. Bracelets more than necklaces, because jingly wrist candy wraps the hippie style all together. Usually stacking bracelets are a simple way to go. Here I've chosen a one of a kind elephant bracelet given to me by my parents. It is Important to wear something that makes a statement about you and your beliefs when attempting this look. The hippie style is all about uniqueness, and about what you believe in. Without a piece that is meaningful to you, the look isn't complete. To top it all off, the flower crown. Totally and completely necessary. Every girl in the world should own one, or ten! You can never go wrong with a flower crown. It's the perfect balance between hippie and chic. It also screams "FREEDOM"! Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but there are so many fun things that you can do with a flower crown. The hairstyles are endless. So, I absolutely do NOT want to see your renovated hippie style without a flower crown! (JK)
The famous crop top! Really, you can get away with any style of crop top to accomplish a hippie look. This look I've chosen is more of a glam hippie look. Some people can hesitate because they like to wear sparkly things and nice material. Don't let that stop you! You can still kill that easy going flower child vibe, while keeping your inner princess happy. Exhibit A: the high waisted white shorts with gold buttons. Total glamour queen, but how a crop top on and a flower crown, and ta-da! You've just created the perfect balance of hippie and glamorous! Free People is a perfect store to create this look. There are so many options here. Boho is their forte, but shhhh! Here's a secret...if you look hard enough, you can for sure find some glamour in there, TRUST ME;) So M&M's if you're having a hard time letting go of those diamonds, don't fret. There is always a happy medium when it comes to trends. Make it your own! That's what's fun about fashion right? Swim upstream a little bit, you'll never be happier!
Teal is a nice boho color. It sends very chill and subtle vibes, which is an important part of mastering that hippie style. Bandeaus are another staple in a woman's closet. One in every color is very necessary. Bras get boring and uncomfortable, and bandeaus are stylish and make you feel less constricted. Tops that show your bandeaus are really fun to pick out. There are some that are completely see through, and others, like this one, have patterns. Whichever you choose, it's easy to pair with jeans or shorts of any sort. I chose these shorts because of the color. Light wash with teal brings that easy going vibe that we're going for. Soft blues are a perfect way to say "chillin" without speaking. Boho, hippie, flower child, whichever style is appealing to you, is one of the easiest looks to accomplish. Basically, it's a style that gives you the most freedom, so go crazy M&Ms! Can't wait to see your creations!
