These Are a Few of My Favorite Things
People are quirky. We all have our weird habits, crazy inside jokes, and special treasures. I think that things we own can tell a little story about our personalities. For instance, if you collect baseball cards naturally others will be led to believe that you love baseball. Maybe you own tons of purple, then it would be safe to say that purple is your favorite color. So with these things in mind, today I'm going to share a few of my favorite things.
In the first picture you can find a Naked3 Urban Decay shadow palette , along with a Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Camera, and Faux Leather Pointed Loafers. All of these things have something in common. Yes, they are all my favorite color...Blush!! Each one of these things are important to me for different reasons. The makeup palette represents my favorite colors of course, but also my passion for beauty. I love to look pretty, and experiment with makeup and this palette gives me the power to do just that! The camera because I love to capture great moments. Each little picture reminds me of a time I was happy, and gives me hope for the future. The shoe because of my obsession with shoes. I love these shoes in particular naturally because of the color, but also because of the metallic finish and the pointed toe. These shoes are very unique but they make a statement about who I am, regarding my style taste and preferences.
The next picture is of a tiara, an issue of Teen Vogue magazine, and a Tiffany & Co. box. I chose a tiara because I love princesses and the idea of being royalty (like most little girls.) The beautiful dresses, the handsome princes, all the way down to the royal jewels. It's every girls dream to be a princess, and in our own special ways every single one of us is a beautiful princess. The tiara is just a daily reminder that I am something more than just a face in the crowd. The magazine is a depiction of my love for fashion. Yes I absolutely love fashion, and magazines provide me with fashion advice and outfit ideas constantly! They are a great way to find the latest trends so that you can put your very own spin on them. And for the Tiffany box, there is a cliche that every girl wants to receive the "little blue box" at least once in her life. Although this was very true for me, it's also a reminder of my work in the community. I received this box along with a necklace for helping with a great cause called Just Like You Films. My aunt started this organization in hopes that children can learn to accept their peers even if they appear to be different. This past year, I served as the president of the Just Like You Youth Advisory Board, and our goal is to reach other teens and spread the word. This is such a great experience, and a great cause, that I was honored to accept the wonderful gift JLY provided me with.
Next we have a planner, and a Royals hat. My planner is not only important to me because it has dozens of elephants on it (which happen to be my favorite animal,) but it's also important because it keeps me organized, and it serves as yet another reminder. I hope to become an event planner in my future, and that occupation is all about being organized. This planner means so much to me because I will be able to keep my schedule up to date, and also because every day I can look at it and know my future is bright. For the hat, the Kansas City Royals are more than just a team to me. I grew up in Kansas City, and I'm very proud to call it my home. Along with that, I play softball so baseball is very VERY important to me. But these are just the normal reasons why people like their team. They are special to me because of the way they support each other, and play with their hearts. It's rare to see baseball teams these days that care about one another like our boys in blue do. There is something special about the way these boys play the game, and I can't help but appreciate that. I bleed blue, and have been bleeding blue ever since I saw them play for the first time. Go Royals!
Next, a wooden hand carved elephant. Like I said before, elephants are my favorite animal. My parents picked this out as a gift for me. If you look closely, you will find a baby elephant inside the belly of the momma elephant. This reminds me of how much my own mother has sacrificed and cared for me. Every day I look at this treasure and appreciate everything my mom has done for me. She is truly amazing. Mom, I know you're reading this. I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, your baby I'll be.
Last but not least, a vinyl record, and an Apple Macbook Pro. My record player is one of my favorite things in my room. It plays music, which I have a passion for, and it plays five different types of media. Tapes, vinyls, CDs, FM/AM radio, and AUX, there are no limits to this wonderful contraption. I love the warm feeling playing a vinyl record gives me. It feels dated and rich to listen to the fuzzy background noise. There isn't anything like it. On to my most prized possession, my laptop. I've grown up with Apple products, and have coveted a Macbook for some time now. It was a decision made by my family that it was necessary for my college career. With the intentions of using it recreationally and for college, I never dreamed that this piece of technology would come to mean more than just a bunch of letters and numbers. Blogging has become a passion of mine, and it would not be possible without this laptop. I don't care about the brand name, nor all the cool features it comes with (I can even text on here! Ok maybe I care a little.) I care about the wonderful opportunities it provides me with. I can blog freely with my Macbook pro, and I can connect to others just as easily.
So these are a few of my favorite things. They each tell their own story about Maddie. I love to share things about myself in hopes that others can relate and connect. I know many of you would love to share your favorite things and stories with me! Feel free to comment below, contact me on social media, or email me your favorite things! Love you M&Ms!
