God Bless America
The Fourth of July is a great holiday. You get to be with family, eat delicious food, watch popping fireworks, and take pride in your American Freedom. What better way to say (or sing) "I am proud to be an American" than by wearing our good old national colors...red, white and blue! So, these colors as beautiful as they are, can be very difficult to make flattering. So, let's take a look at how we can incorporate our American colors, and still be the most stylish one at the family Fourth party.
Stripes are always a safe bet. Not only do they resemble our American flag, but they keep us looking fit! Stripes are very flattering to the body and form to the curves, thus giving the illusion that we're actually thinner than we really are. So stripes are a festive option keeping you in the spirit and looking pretty. Now, blues are the hardest part. Light blue doesn't quite send the right message, and indigo is a little too purple. The trouble is no one really knows what shade of blue is really on the flag. It's not quite royal blue, but also not quite navy. The solution can be both. Navy and royal blue are very interchangeable during the Fourth. Sometimes red can be a little much so it's okay to use red exclusively as your accent color. White is the easiest color to work with. It's flattering and easily accessible. So with all our background on the color scheme, now we can create our outfits. Here, I've chosen: a t-shirt dress with wide, horizontal, white and navy stripes. I paired it with my trusty white, high-top converse. That gives me a solid base of navy and white, and then a subtle touch of red in the shoes. Dresses can be a cute way to show your pride, but they can also be slightly annoying and less comfortable than shorts or a pair of jeans. Gage the amount of movement you'll be involved in, and decide whether a dress will be a good choice or a bad one.
To me, the Fourth is a time to kick back and have fun. You don't want to be constantly worrying about your outfit. Try something easy going. Shorts are a nice way to be cute and comfortable all at the same time. Find some festive cut offs and enjoy your holiday. There are so many different American flag covered jean shorts. You can find the pair that fits your style the best! Crop tops can be a smart choice for the Fourth, too. They are summery and fun, and can be paired with almost any bottoms. The bright side of festive shorts is that you can relax on the top you pick. It's easy to match them and any color of the color scheme can be chosen. Another easy option can be jeans or regular jean shorts and a shirt of red, white, blue, or a combination of any of them. Jewelry can also be fun. There are so many options when it comes to Fourth of July jewelry. Headbands, flag earrings, colorful bracelets, it never ends! Find a way to incorporate a festive piece of jewelry into your Fourth outfit.
Celebrate the Fourth by looking your best this year! I hope this gives you some inspiration for your outfits during this wonderful day. Go be the firework at your get together! Happy Independence Day M&Ms!
